OLIVER COOK
Oliver Cook is an artist working in alabaster to create minimal vases, vessels and sculptures. His technique and process is self-taught, developing organically over time and employs traditional carving techniques and skills learned through ceramics.
His practice investigates the relationship between the translucent properties of the stone, light and movement, using everyday objects as a starting point. Recently his work has explored the action of carrying with pieces designed to be held and moved, to challenge the viewer to reconsider their preconception of sculptures' typical immobile, fixed nature.
